Margaret has been making handmade felt for over ten years, using the traditional wet felting technique to make garments, accessories, jewellery, and decorative and functional items for the home.
Margaret has an HNC in textiles, and City and Guilds Level 3 in Feltmaking. She regularly attends workshop and masterclasses with national and international tutors to further expand her knowledge and technique.
Margaret is a member of the International Feltmakers Association (IFA). She has just completed her term as membership secretary, and is now treasurer. She is based in Yorkshire and is an IFA regional co-ordinator. Margaret is also an active member of local felt and art groups.
Margaret exhibits with the IFA and the groups, and also as an individual. Her work can be seen in galleries and shops, and on-line. She really enjoys talking about, demonstrating, and teaching felt. Margaret is currently experimenting using the raw fleece for an exhibition in 2021. The fleeces are from different breeds, but they have all been “grown” in the north of England.
